Shekhawati is about 185 km away from Jaipur. Shekhawati was the first independent kingdom of Shekhawat Rajput, Rao Shekhawat, during 1433 AD. Shekhawati is also known as the ‘Garden of Shekhawat’. The region is also recognized as an ‘open art gallery’ and embraces numerous frescos. Frescos are paintings which are done on walls and ceilings, made of plaster. Entire region exhibits immense art work done by master artisans of medieval era.


The dominating and very prosperous community of Marwari’s was the one of the key sources for the expansion of the region. Shekhawati is renowned for its royal architecture, forts, palaces, and haveli’s, which embody lavish and regal culture.


The word ‘haveli’ originated from Persia that denotes ‘an enclosed place’. Havelis are mansions, built by rich Marwaris for private utilization. The havelis personified the status of these rich Marwari businessmen; the painters were employed to create the magic of beautiful frescos. The haveli’s were influenced by Mughal architecture. The astonishing haveli’s and palaces will recoil you to the medieval era.


The entire region embraces several attractions:


Dundlod:


Dundlod is a small town that encompasses a fort and several havelis. Keshari Singh built the magnificent fort of Dundlod in 1750, which is a key attraction of the town. The town is well connected and easy to reach. The specific fort has been transformed into a heritage hotel these days. Various sections of the fort such as Diwan e Khaas were adorned with portraits and furniture, which magnetize visitors. The haveli’s of the town are other attraction, amongst all Goenka haveli is well known for its magnificence.


Mandawa:


Mandawa Fort is converted into a heritage hotel that holds a captivating royal view. The fort holds a collection of the regal costumes and arms of medieval era. Mandawa lies at a distance of about 190 km from Jaipur and is known for its fort and havelis.


Bissau


The town portrays finest architectural edifices. The cenatophs and the havelis of the town are very charismatic. This very beautiful town was established in 18th century.


Sikar:


Sikar was once the leading trading center which lied under Jaipur state during 17th century. Sikar encompasses various sites that are worth a visit. The Clock Tower, the havelis, and largely the paintings are so alluring. The temples in Sikar are popular around the country.


Nawalgarh:


This royal town of Nawalgarh holds some of the very fine frescoes of the region. The town was established by Thakur Nawal Singh in 1737. The havelis of the town will mesmerize you, Aath Haveli, Bansidhar Bhagat Haveli and Anaadilal Poddar Haveli are few of the must visit legacies.


Pilani:


Pilani encompasses the renowned Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS). And the key attractions of the place are the museums- BITS Museum, Panchwati, and Birla Haveli Museum are worth a visit. Pilani houses the foremost industrialist of the country, Birla.


Alsisar:


The town is known for its havelis and frescos. The visit to the place will be worth along with the havelis you can have a look at the very famous fort of Alsisar and its temples.


Mehansar:


The village of Mehansar was established by Thakurs in 1768. The Sone-Chandi-Ki-Haveli is well known for its magnificence and very mesmerizing frescos. These very exclusive paintings were layered with gold leaf.


A visit to this beautiful region wil remains in your memories forever. Today also, the town comprises of some of the imperial houses such as: Birla, Poddar, Dalmia, Jaipuria, Surana and many more.
