The ancient name of this hill station was ‘Arbudaanchal’. The present name ‘Mount Abu’ has been derived from the youngest son of Himalaya ‘Mount Arbud’. According to ‘Purana’ (Hindu religious text), this region was referred as Arbudaranya, ("forest of Arbhu")

The key attraction of this hilly city is its lush green surroundings. Mount Abu is a fav pick for weekenders and mesmerizes with its famous sun-set point. Mount Abu houses many temples namely Adhar Devi Temple, Gaumukh Temple, Dilwara Jain Temple, Raghunathji Temple, Luna Vashi Temple and Ambica Mata Temple. The most famous, Dilwara Jain Temple is renowned for its captivatingly extravagant marble carvings. The sheer beauty of the temple is compared to the legendary Taj Mahal.

The weather and green scenic beauty of gardens surely steal hearts. The city even holds a museum, which is acclaimed for its collection of weapons, musical instruments, tribal works, paintings and ornaments. A trip to this hill station will stay afresh in your memories forever.
