Rajasthan’s state government is headed by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot with the help of his council of ministers. This UPA government was chosen to form on December 11, 2008. It has been a year and three months of their span of five years reign. It’s been the second time that Ashok Gehlot has chaired the seat of Rajasthan’s CM. Previously, BJP government headed by Vasundhara Raje prevailed as the local state government.


Jaipur province is locally governed by a local administration too. Known as Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC), it is headed by the Mayor of the city. The corporation lists 77 wards and a board is constituted with elected members from these wards. The mayor is voted and democratically elected by counselors through secret ballot. Recently Jyoti Khandelwal was appointed as the Mayor on November 23, 2009.
