The City Palace Museum is a segment inside
The City Palace. This royal palace comprises
of many sections. A wing also serves as a
current day residence of the Maharaja of
Jaipur. Built in 19th century, the museum
showcases several awe-inspiring art and
craft specimens. Besides, such fragments of
history, the palace itself is worth a visit.
As you will visit the museum, you certainly
get an opportunity to visit the entire
palace. Beautifully carved, this palace
attracts several visitors. On the entrance
way itself, you will discover two
brilliantly carved elephant sculptures,
which are made of pure white shimmering
marble.
Built in the 19th century, during the reign
of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the City
Palace has several sections to visit. The
assortment in the museum is alienated into
three fragments. It consists of the textile,
arms, and an art museum.
The textile museum has a vast collection of
the costumes and ornaments that were worn by
the royal family members. The dresses were
made of silk mostly. Textile museum comes up
with three sections- one section encompasses
the royal costumes made of silk. The other
section holds an assortment of cotton
fabrics. These cotton fabrics are hand
printed with a beautiful art that comes from
Sanganer. And till date, the small town is
the largest source of hand blocked/ printed
textile. The third section showcases
glassware, bowls, cups, and water
sprinklers.
The arms museum consists of all the arms and
ammunitions used in the medieval era. From
the smallest to the largest, all of them are
on display. One can easily retreat to the
erstwhile era by a glimpse they offer. An
immense assortment encompasses swords,
daggers, knives, guns, and many more such
weapons.
The art collection is such that one can feel
delighted by watching beautiful paintings,
blue pottery, carpets, and other
attractions. The hall itself is beautifully
adorned. An assortment of exclusive carpets
hangs on walls too. The religious
manuscripts of the historic period are
preserved and showcased. The royal
palanquins are yet another attraction of the
museum.
Worth watching are temples, the Mubarak
Mahal, the gardens, Chandra Mahal, Badal
Mahal, etc. This palace is one of the major
attractions of Jaipur.

Admission Fee : Indians Rs. 35.00 and
for foreigners Rs.150.00 inclusive of entry
to the Jaigarh fort.
