The Central Museum holds a massive
collection of specimens of the erstwhile
Rajasthani royal era. The museum is also
known as ‘Albert Museum’ or ‘Government
Central Museum’. This is the oldest museum
of the city and was constructed in 1876
under the command of Lt. Swinton Jacob.
Initially, the building was proposed to be a
town hall. Later, it was turned into an art
museum, as per the verdict of Maharaja Madho
Singh. The museum is positioned in the
Ramnivas Gardens. The assortment, as well as
the building is a sight to behold, with the
pillars, the courtyards, and the arches
worth seeing. This premium museum was
created in 19th century.
The architecture of the museum illustrates a
beautiful blend of the Indo-Sarcenic style

section of the museum, also known as the
Darbar Hall, has the largest floor covering
in the world. It is the oldest identified
carpet, and is solitary in its kind.

objects including- metal art, arms,
furniture, weapons, tiger knives, hilts,
swords, armor, shields, daggers,
intercontinental art, the Egyptian
collection, an Egyptian Mummy, Japanese
pottery, stone sculptures, pistols, pottery
collection and revolvers. Moreover,
chillums, musical instruments, miniature
paintings, sculptures, ivory carvings, wood
work, jewelry, carpets, lacquer work, etc
are displayed.
