Amber was the capital of the Kachhawaha clan
preceding Jaipur. It is placed at a distance
of 10 km from Jaipur city. The fort was
established in 16th cen. and was initiated
during the reign of Raja Man Singh. The fort
was personalized during the reign of
Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder and
the ruler of Jaipur city. The fort embraces
many sections, divided as per the
prerequisite of the dynasty. Constructed
using red sandstone and white marble, the
architecture follows a blend of Mughal and
Hindu structural designs. The major
segmentation of the fort comprises ladies
apartment, army area, courtyard, temple and
palace.
Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khaas, Ganesh Pol,
Jaleb Chowk, Singh Pol, Jai Mandir, Yash
Mandir, Sukh Mandir, Sheesh Mahal (Hall of
Mirrors), Suhag Mandir, Shila Devi Temple,
Bhool Bhulaiya, and Zanana Dyodhi (women’s
apartments) are major attractions within
Amber.;
Amber Fort was completed within two
centuries by consistence efforts of three
consequent kings following Raja Man Singh.
The fort offers many spectacular views.
Specially, legendary mirror work is done in
the Sheesh Mahal Hall. The mirrors are so
creatively placed that even a minute ray can
brighten up the hall wholly.
The Maotha Lake adds a charm to the royal
palace. The blissful Shila Devi Temple is
devoted to goddess ‘Kali’. As per the myths,
Raja Man Singh was a believer of Goddess
Kali, and used to worship the goddess to
attain victory. The temple is known for its
exquisite silver work; the doors and the
lions made of silver are very enchanting as
an emblem of royalty.
The most exciting part of Amber visit is the
elephant ride, which is accessible for the
visitors. The ride offers a skyline view of
the city and a mesmerizing sight over Maotha
Lake. The trip can be more fruitful with a

is available at the doorstep of the fort. As
the sun sets, the shade of the fort
seemingly transforms. Moreover, when the
night is properly set, the fort comes alive
